Verraco is a Colombian exponent of Latin American braindance. Tired of the lack of sonic plurality in his home city, Medellín, he co-founded the Insurgentes imprint in 2017 with a progressive sensibility, amplifying Latinxs artists and expanding towards a philosophy they called mestizofuturism, one that collides techno, South West England's legacy, and traditional rhythms of his region. His frictive sound drives flickering synths against swinging syncopations and taut drums. His recent LP entitled Grial draws listeners through a myriad of sonic environments, aimed directly at rejecting the notion of a singular Latinx musical identity.
